Core Poetry™ Teacher Training at Movewell Pilates
A thoughtful pathway into Pilates teaching
The Core Poetry™ Pilates Instructor Training pathway offers a progressive, embodied approach to Pilates education. Rooted in movement arts, classical foundations, and adaptive real-world teaching skills, this training is designed to help you grow into a teacher who is clear, responsive, and grounded in practice.
At Movewell, we believe meaningful teaching is about more than memorizing exercises. It is about learning how to observe, communicate, and support many different bodies with skill, curiosity, and care.
Whether you are exploring Pilates teaching for the first time, expanding your movement credentials, or deepening an existing teaching practice, this pathway offers a clear way to begin and grow.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

This training may be a beautiful fit for you if you are:
A curious Pilates practitioner who loves movement and feels called to share it
Exploring a career shift into work that feels meaningful and sustainable
Interested in contributing to a thoughtful, supportive movement community
A movement professional who wants to integrate Pilates into your current work
A teacher ready to deepen your practice and expand your teaching tools

The Core Poetry™ certification process is modular, which means you can begin with Mat training and build toward fuller certification over time. Comprehensive certification includes additional apparatus work such as Cadillac, Chair, Barrels, and Advanced Integration. Springboard is offered as a specialized elective.
Most modules are taught in person over multiple days, with format varying slightly based on group needs and instructor availability. Practice, observation, and student teaching hours are tracked throughout the process using a provided log.
-
To receive certification at each level, trainees must:
Complete all in-person contact hours
Log required practice, observation, and teaching hours
Pass both a practical and written exam
Participate in mentorship check-ins and feedback sessions
Trainees receive a Certificate of Completion for each module as they progress, but completing one module alone does not confer full Mat, Reformer, or Comprehensive certification.
Full certification is awarded only after all required modules, hours, and exams are completed.
-
Trainees pursuing a full comprehensive pathway complete Mat and Reformer certification, then continue into additional apparatus modules including Cadillac, Chair, Barrels, and Advanced Integration.
Recommended prerequisites include:
Completion of Mat + Reformer certifications or enrollment in the Bridge program
20+ Pilates studio sessions
1 year of regular movement practice
1 year teaching movement
Practical hours for comprehensive add-ons
40 hours apparatus training
50 hours personal practice
50 hours observation
80 hours student teaching
Total: 220 hours
-
For trainees pursuing comprehensive certification, the program strongly encourages foundational coursework in anatomy and movement principles, either through Core Poetry™ or approved equivalent study elsewhere. Recommended coursework includes:
Intro to Anatomy for Movement Professionals
Movement Foundations Lab
Relational Teaching Methods
These are not currently required, but they are encouraged and may become required in future cohorts.
-
Practice, observation, and student teaching hours are the trainee’s responsibility to track. Limited studio access may be available for trainees completing these hours, and additional studio time may be available by request or at a discounted trainee rate.
